MycoKeys launches GBIF hosted portal

19 March 2025

MycoKeys has launched its own data portal hosted by the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), in an effort to enhance the visibility and facilitate the reuse of biodiversity data associated with MycoKeys publications. By directly linking peer-reviewed articles to their underlying data, the portal will empower researchers to explore and build upon mycological findings.

Currently, the portal provides access to 15 datasets and over 100 occurrences. It offers features such as search by category and data clustering, enabling users to narrow down queries and discover related records.

MycoKeys is one of a series of Pensoft-published journals to get their own hosted data portals on GBIF, along with titles such as ZooKeys and PhytoKeys, following in the footsteps of Biodiversity Data Journal, which was Pensoft's first outlet to open a GBIF-hosted data portal. This is the latest initiative in the publisher's continued effort to advance and support the reuse of findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR) biodiversity data using open infrastructure.
