Editor, author & reviewer Jennifer Luangsa-ard honoured with a new genus of spider parasitic fungi

27 July 2022

In their recently published study of pathogenic fungi collected from spiders in Thailand, a research team led by Dr Suchada Mongkolsamrit (BIOTEC) described a total of three new genera and four new to science species.

One of those genera: Jenniferia gen. nov., is named after Dr. Jennifer Luangsa-ard, a prolific author, editor and reviewer at MycoKeys. The honour comes in recognition “for her support and guidance in arthropod pathogenic fungi research”, according to the taxon’s published etymology.

The newly described genus belongs to the family Cordycipitaceae and so far accommodates two species, both described in the present paper: J. griseocinerea and J. thomisidarum.
